Bob Baylis was born in 1938 in New York City. He graduated from St. Bernard’s School in 1952 and Phillips Exeter Academy in 1956. He received an A.B. degree in economics from Princeton Univer-sity in 1960 and was a member of the Cap and Gown Club, the Triangle Show and vice presi-dent of the Orange Key Society. In 1962, he graduated from Harvard Business School with an M.B.A. degree. He then served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve as a specialist 5th class for five years. In 1963, he joined the First Boston Corporation and in 1966 went to work for Credit Suisse First Boston in New York City. During the last two years of his busi-ness career, he was chairman and CEO of Credit Suisse First Boston Pacific in Hong Kong. Bob serves on the board of four charitable organizations and is a former board member of five corporations, including Gildan Activewear, Inc., where he was chairman of the board of directors. He and his wife Lois live in Darien and have three children and nine grandchildren. He enjoys travel, photography, kayaking and antique Asian art.
