Michael Devlin was born in New York City in 1947 and spent his formative years in Plainview,  N.Y. He graduated from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, N.Y., where he was captain of the football team and member of the track and field team. He was senior class vice president and served on the student council. Mike graduated from St. John’s University in 1970 with a B.S. in marketing and St. John’s University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review staff, a St. Thomas More Scholar and advocate in student government. His work career began with Dow Corning in Midland, Mich., working in the international taxation field. This led to an assignment with the company in Brussels until 1978 and then with Levi Strauss & Co., also in Brussels, until 1984. Back in the United States, Mike worked in the corporate tax field in New York and Massachusetts until retiring as vice president of corporate tax with Michaels Stores, Inc. in Irving, Texas, in 2016. Mike and his wife Eleanor live in Darien. They have five children and, at last count, 11 grandchildren. He is a member of Noroton Yacht Club and Noroton Bay Association, board member at Eden Hill Medical Center, LLC and president of Medical Properties, LLC. He is a former member of the St. Thomas More Parish Council. Mike’s leisure time interests include golf, theology, political theory and history, painting and drawing, and poetry.
