Jan Selkowitz was born in Pittsfield, Mass., in 1944 and graduated from Lenox Prep School in 1961 where he was on the tennis, ski and soccer teams as well as a member of the French Club and the school newspaper. He received a B.A. degree in French and economics in 1966 from St. Lawrence University where he was a member of the ski team and coached the women’s ski team. He studied one year at the Sorbonne in Paris. Upon graduating, he taught French at the Lenox School and then joined Sportswear International Ltd for 18 years. He then became president of Salem Straits Ltd, and for the next 29 years spent much of his time working in Asia, Turkey and Africa. Jan and his wife Min live in Darien and have two children. He is a member of the Tokeneke Club, the Pitts-field Country Club and Chelsea Piers. He en-joys skiing, tennis, reading, movies and traveling with his family.
