John Regan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1938 and graduated from St. Michael’s Diocesan High in 1956. He graduated from St. John’s University in 1961 and obtained an M.A. degree from City College of New York and also did postgraduate work at St. John’s University and Cornell University in English, school administration and labor relations. As an undergraduate, he was active in the school newspaper and yearbook. Jack’s working career began as assistant superintendent for personnel at a Long Island school district, and he later started a consulting firm specializing in public sector negotiations, personnel and labor relations. His consulting work continues to this day. He also is an adjunct professor at Stony Brook, training and mentoring school administrators. Jack and his wife Mary Elizabeth live in Darien and have two children and four grandchildren. He belongs to the Darien Community Association and enjoys travel, reading, movies and the theatre.
