Born in Mineola, NY in 1939, Bill grew up in Lloyd Harbor on Long Island. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy ‘57 where he played varsity soccer, hockey and lacrosse. He received his B.A. from Princeton University ’61, where he continued with varsity hockey. After serving as a Lieutenant in the US Navy aboard a destroyer during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bill entered Syracuse University College of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 1966. From 1966 to 2014 he practiced trust and estate and real estate law at three firms, retiring as a senior partner with Davidson, Dawson and Clark in New York and Connecticut. He is a member of Norwalk Yacht Club, New York and Royal Scandinavian Yacht Club. He also played mens’ hockey with the New Canaan and Darien Winter Clubs. As a hockey lover he also coached for 14 years with Darien Youth Hockey.
Bill and his wife, Jeanie, moved from New York City to Rowayton in 1968. They have two sons and four grandchildren. Hockey, sailing and skiing have been Bill’s favorite sports. He has spent summers racing one design sailboats in local harbors, and larger cruising boats in offshore ocean races. In winters the Millers head west to ski in the canyons of Utah.
